ENGL 112
I found that the most useful tool was "delicious". It made organizing the research paper so much easier. I was able to easily add, research and go back to the useful sites. I found it very useful when I was at the library and needed to look up a site for reference. The "blog" site was an excellent tool also, I liked going to my classmates "blogs" and seeing what and how there research was going. I never used a "blog" site before so it was frustrating at first, with time it became easier. To be honest I haven't do much with "wiki", I didn't quite understand it, which is my fault for not getting into it more. Overall I've really enjoyed learning all the new tools that we've used in this class.

ENGL 112 Literary Essay
I've chosen to use the author Ann Rule. She has written many non fiction books on true crime events. I've found her writting to be very interesting. She is able to show the feeling and emotions of both the victim and perpetrator. The two books that I've recently read are Green River, Running Red and Small Sacrifices.

ENGL 112 Week 10
My field research consisted of interviewing students who attend schools with a uniform requirement; these students were from a local charter school. I also interviewed students who attend schools that uniforms were not required; these students were from a local high school and middle school. One question that I asked of the students who were not required to wear uniforms was, if they seen an advantage and what advantage they feel it would have. I was somewhat surprised, in learning that the consistent answer was that it would relieve some of the peer pressure they felt with regards to “what’s in fashion”. The majority of the research I’ve done has pointed to the safety issue that wearing a uniform to school brings. In hind site I wish I would have conducted a survey to better illustrate the advantages of wearing a school uniform has.

ENGL 112 (Late week 9)
I have just about completed my field interviews. I am still lacking the faculty member from the charter school. The interview date had to be changed to 04/06. My outline is complete and with a completed thesis statement. I've started working on my draft, mostly following my outline. I've also explored a couple of other websites that have information pertaining to my topic.

ENGL 112
Field research. I've interviewed three 10th grade students who are attending a public high school that does not require school uniforms. I've interviewed two 7th grade students that are attending middle school that do not require school uniforms. I've interviewed two 6th grade students that are required to wear school uniforms. I have an interview next week with a faculty member at a charter school that requires school uniforms.

ENGL 112 - Search Engine
The most common search engine that I use is ask.com. I find that this search engine is very useful and easy to use. It allows you to do mathematical searches as well as Boolean searching. One feature that I do like is the ability of the search to show images. The advance search is also very useful and easy to navigate. One of the disadvantages is that search engine does not have the ability to uncluster results.

ENGL 112
One of the methods that I plan to use to gather information will be a interview. I plan on interviews a faculity member at Cherry Creek Academy. Cherry Creek Academy is a charter school within the Cherry Creek School District. They require that all students (K - 8th) wear school uniforms. Some of the questions that I plan on asking are: why is the school a safer environment for the students; is there a direct corraltion with school uniforms and the students grades, what disadvantages has the school seen by their students wearing uniforms. I am still developing follow up questions to ask. I also plan on interviewing a student who attends a school where uniforms are not required. The main questions that I plan to ask are: if they were required to wear a school uniform what benefits would they believe they would see, what disadvantages would there be. I am still working on follow up questions. I also plan on researching past radio programs on the subject. I have heard this topic being discussed on the radio.
ENGL 112
This is only the beginning of my research for books. I am finding it quite difficult to find actual books that have been written on the subject. I plan on visiting the local library this weekend and asking for help. Although this is incomplete as required I did want to put out what I had found.

ENGL 112
Narrowing my topic. Based on the recommendations/comments I feel that my topic is narrowed. I plan on doing my research on U.S. schools only. Thanks to those who provided comments and recommendations.
ENGL 112
Benefits – welfare, gain, profit
Disadvantages – disfavor
Unity – integrity, wholeness, oneness
Personal – identity
Grade – order, place, range, rank, rate, mark, score
Uniform – unvarying, consistent, single, undifferentiated
Self esteem – self pride, dignity, self regard, self respect
I used mostly Word Source for this assignment. By reading the true definitions of each word in the title of my research project I was able to gain a better understanding. I feel that by using the synonymous and the other methods of researching it enabled me to find a few more possible research sites. I believe that this assignment is valuable not only for this research but research in general.

ENGL 112
Who benefits if students are required to wear uniforms?
Would violence in schools be affected if students were required to wear uniforms?
What benefits to the students, community and school are there to wearing uniforms?
Could the community benefits from schools that have students wear uniforms?
What are social pressures of students who wear uniforms?
What are the costs of students wearing school uniforms?
What are the educational benefits of students wearing school uniforms?
How would parents feel about their child being required to wear a uniform to school?
How would the student feel about being required to wear a uniform?
What schools are most school uniforms being worn?
What benefits to the students, community and school are there to wearing school uniforms?
Benefits: increased focus
drop in violence
school and community pride
cost
relief of some peer pressure
While we cannot argue that school grades are dropping and violence rising would making it mandatory for school to have students wear school uniforms stop unnecessary violence, increase the focus of the students and relieve peer pressure felt by students?

School Uniforms
I chose to do my research paper on "School Uniforms", are there benefits to the students, parents and to the school. I chose this topic because I have a daughter and son who both wore uniforms while attending elementary and middle school. My daughter is now in high school and no longer required to wear a school uniform. I would like to research and learn more about the true benefits of wearing school uniforms.
I know what the cost of uniforms are in my area and some of the benefits. I know from speaking with some faculty members of the school that my children attended the benefits that wearing uniforms had for the school.
I would like to learn what negative ramifications there are for students who wear school uniforms. I would also like to learn the cost is in other areas. What the true benefits are to the students, parents, school and possibly to the community.
